Welcome

Jeffrey PackThank you for visiting my home on the web and for your interest in West Virginia. This campaign is about more than just partisanship and politics. West Virginia sits at the threshold of the future. Whether we choose to move forward is, ultimately, up to us as West Virginians. This election affords us the opportunity to begin making such changes. For too long our legislature has been dominated by the status quo, remaining unwilling to exercise independent thought. It is our responsibility to elect candidates with fresh ideas and bold strategies to make West Virginia competitive with surrounding states. We must break free of our legislature’s pattern of exercising two-dimensional thinking in a three-dimensional world.

We, as West Virginians, deserve a better government. We deserve more for our tax dollar. We must allow ourselves the opportunity to excel. The first step in rectifying the problems facing West Virginia is to address the problem at its root. That problem is the legislature itself. We have no constitutional term limits upon members of the House of Delegates or Senate. This allows for the outlook of our representatives to become stagnant as they acclimate themselves to “politics as usual.” By limiting the number of consecutive terms any legislator can serve, we guarantee that new ideas are consistently revolving within our capitol. We need to address the problems within our education system, including teacher and service personnel pay. One of my additional concerns is the lack of employment opportunities for young people in our state, especially young college graduates.

I distinguish myself from other candidates through education and experience. I am an honors graduate of Concord University in Athens, WV with a degree in Political Science. This education is complemented and enhanced by my experience working for the House of Delegates for two regular sessions in 2006 and 2007. This experience has equipped me with considerable knowledge of the inner workings of our legislature. Ideally, a candidate should be able to “hit the ground running” without having to endure a certain learning curve. This is another reason why I am an ideal candidate. Additionally, I have been a lifelong resident of West Virginia with the exception of my service in the United States Air Force, where I served both stateside and abroad.

Again, thank you for visiting my website. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss any issues of importance to you. God Bless!

Paid for by the Committee to Elect Jeffrey Pack, Pam Pack, Treasurer.
